Your documents are opened and changed in your browser, on your device. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.

Your documents
When you open a PDF or an image, your browser reads it from your device into this page. Every tool (merging, splitting, turning pages, exporting) runs in your browser. What you download is made in your browser too. Nothing you open is uploaded, stored or seen by us.
The page is built so that it can't send them: its security policy only lets it connect to holapdf.app, and holapdf.app has nowhere to receive a document. You can check this yourself; How it works shows how.
When you close the tab, the documents are gone from the page. Passwords you type to open a protected PDF are used in the page only, and forgotten with it.
What is kept on your device
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| The app's own files (the page, its code, the PDF engines) | So Hola PDF opens quickly and works without a connection. Your browser keeps them; you can remove them by clearing this site's data. |
| The text-recognition engine and language model, if you use OCR | So OCR works offline after the first time. Kept with the app's files. |
| Your choice of language, if you change it | So the page opens in that language next time. |
| How many signatures you placed today, in the free version | The free version places three a day. Just a date and a number. |
| Your Hola PDF Pro licence, if you activate one | So Pro stays unlocked in this browser. The page checks the licence itself; it never asks a server whether you're Pro. |
No document, page or picture of a page is kept.
What we receive
Like any website, holapdf.app is delivered to your browser by a server. Ours is run by Cloudflare, which handles each request for the app's files, including your IP address and browser type, under its own privacy policy. These requests are for the app only; they never contain your documents.
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, under the same Cloudflare privacy policy. On each page you visit, a small script from Cloudflare reports the page's address, the site you came from, your browser and operating system, your country and how fast the page loaded. It uses no cookies and keeps nothing in your browser, and it doesn't follow you to other sites. It never sees your documents: they're never in a page's address, and the app takes your licence key out of the address before the script runs.
Hola PDF uses no cookies and no advertising, and there are no accounts. Apart from Cloudflare's analytics script, the pages where you work with documents load no scripts from anywhere else. Only the purchase page for Hola PDF Pro, on its own address (buy.holapdf.app), loads Paddle's checkout to take the payment; it can't reach the pages that handle documents.
Hola PDF Pro
Paddle, our reseller, takes the payment under its own privacy policy; we never see your card. For each purchase we keep: the licence key, Paddle's transaction and customer IDs, and your email address (to find your licence if you lose it, and for support). For each browser where you activate the licence we keep the browser's own description (such as "Safari on Mac") and the date, so the five places can be told apart. Removing the licence from a browser frees its place. A licence never involves a document.
